SEMH Teacher – Full-Time Permanent Role – Shaftesbury

Specialist KS3/KS4 Teaching Opportunity

An innovative specialist school in Shaftesbury is seeking a talented Generalist KS3/KS4 Teacher to join their dedicated team from September 2026 on a full-time permanent basis.

This exceptional setting supports pupils aged 4 to 16 with SEMH needs, autism and complex SEND.

All learners have Education, Health and Care Plans, and staff use a therapeutic, relationship-focused approach to support both educational progress and emotional wellbeing.

Working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm.

 

The Role

You will teach small groups across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting lessons to suit individual learning profiles and emotional needs.

The school places strong emphasis on personalised learning, inclusion and helping pupils rediscover confidence within education.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lessons across a variety of curriculum subjects
• Adapt teaching methods for pupils with complex SEND
• Build safe, calm and supportive learning environments
• Use trauma-informed and relational behaviour approaches
• Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP outcomes
• Support pupils’ emotional resilience and independence
• Work closely with therapists, support staff and families
• Take an active role in pastoral care and tutor responsibilities

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status
• Has experience teaching KS3 and KS4 pupils
