Teacher – Specialist Provision (SEMH)

Location: Bournemouth

Salary: MPS/UPS

Contract: Full Time

Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient and inspirational Teacher to join our specialist secondary provision in Bournemouth, supporting pupils in Years 7–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusive education and able to create engaging, structured and nurturing learning environments where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve their potential.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, planning engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners and promoting positive outcomes for all pupils. The role also includes contributing to the wider life of the school, supporting pupils’ personal development and maintaining strong relationships with families and external professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons that inspire and engage learners
  • Assessing, monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and attainment
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and personal development
  • Supporting pupils with their educational, social and emotional needs
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and senior leaders
  • Maintaining effective communication with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Contributing to curriculum development, pastoral support and wider school initiatives
  • Upholding safeguarding, health and safety, and professional standards at all times
  • Participating in professional development, staff meetings and school events
  • Supporting the wider team through collaboration, coaching and shared best practice

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (QTS) with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • Has experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviours
  • Builds positive, trusting and respectful relationships with pupils
  • Is adaptable, proactive and emotionally resilient
  • Has strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and high expectations for every learner
  • Works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
