Are you passionate about supporting young people who need it most? Do you believe in creating a safe, nurturing environment where every pupil is truly at the centre of what you do?

An alternative provision in Chorley is seeking dedicated SEMH Support Workers to join their team. The setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who may display challenging behaviour, and they are looking for caring individuals who can help make a real difference.

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Build trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.

  • Support pupils in regulating their emotions and behaviour through a calm, consistent approach.

  • Work closely with teaching staff and wider pastoral teams to create a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Use a pupil-centred approach, adapting strategies to meet individual needs and circumstances.

About You:

  • You may have experience in counselling, youth work, residential care, or similar support roles.

  • You do not need previous school experience – the school values people who share their ethos and genuinely care about helping young people thrive.

  • You are resilient, calm under pressure, and able to de-escalate challenging situations with empathy.

  • You believe in putting pupils at the heart of every decision and interaction.

  • You are committed to creating an environment where young people feel safe, valued and supported to succeed.

What We Offer:

  • An opportunity to join a supportive, values-led school community.

  • Ongoing training and professional development.

  • The chance to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people.

  • A potential pathway to permanent employment for the right candidate.

If you are ready to help shape brighter futures for young people in Chorley, we would love to hear from you.
