SEMH Support Staff – Day-to-Day Supply

Contract Type: Flexible Day-to-Day Supply

Teaching Personnel is working with a range of specialist SEND and SEMH schools across Stoke-on-Trent that are looking for caring, reliable, and resilient support staff to work on a flexible day-to-day basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people, as well as experienced care workers, support workers, youth workers, or similar professionals looking to transfer their skills into education.
You do not need previous school experience if you have strong transferable skills and the right attitude.
The Role
- Provide day-to-day support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Support pupils with learning, behaviour, emotional regulation, and development.
- Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
- Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and senior leaders.
- Support pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about supporting children and young people.
- Is patient, resilient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships.
- Has experience working with young people in education, care, support work, youth work, or a similar setting.
- Has transferable skills in communication, behaviour management, mentoring, coaching, or emotional support.
- Is confident working as part of a wider team.
- Is adaptable and comfortable working in different school environments.
- Is looking for flexible day-to-day work.

To Be Eligible For This Role Through Teaching Personnel, You Must:
- Hold the right to work in the UK.
- Have experience working with children, young people, vulnerable individuals, or transferable skills relevant to the role.
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
