SEMH Support Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a secondary school in Portsmouth supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you will make a positive impact in the lives of young people who require help with emotional regulation, relationship building, and setting boundaries.
The Role of an LSA:

Work on a one-to-one and small group basis with pupils who have SEMH needs.

Support pupils with managing emotions, behaviour, understanding triggers, and developing positive relationships.

Assist with adapting the learning content to meet individual needs.

Collaborate closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide a safe and supportive environment.
Rrole Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young adults who struggle with emotional regulation and building relationships is essential.

Ability to drive is highly desirable.

Must have a clear DBS or be willing to apply for one.

Availability between 8:30–15:30 (hours may vary slightly day-to-day).

Passion, patience, and resilience when working with young people facing emotional challenges.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
