SEMH Specialist – Primary School – Croxteth

Location: Croxteth, Liverpool
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

An inclusive and welcoming primary school in Croxteth is seeking a dedicated SEMH Specialist to join their team this January. This is a temporary, full-time role, perfect for someone passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing educational environment.

The school prides itself on strong pastoral care, a supportive staff culture, and a commitment to ensuring every child succeeds, regardless of the challenges they face. As part of the school’s SEND provision, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to individual SEMH needs.

You’ll collaborate with the SENCo, class teachers, and external agencies to:

  • Deliver targeted emotional and behavioural support.
  • Help children regulate emotions and engage positively with learning.
  • Monitor progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to individual needs.
  • Background in education, youth work, or psychology (desirable but not essential).
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
