Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a nurturing and supportive SEN Primary School in Stockport that is seeking a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to join their team this September.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work closely with a primary-aged pupil who requires dedicated support with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Every day, you'll have the chance to make a genuine difference by helping a child feel safe, understood, and able to succeed.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
- Build a positive and trusting relationship based on consistency and understanding
- Support emotional regulation and implement strategies to manage behaviours positively
- Encourage engagement in learning and promote independence
- Create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and families to ensure the best outcomes for the pupil
- Celebrate small wins and support the child's social and emotional development
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, anxiety, or additional learning needs
- Can remain calm under pressure and adapt their approach to meet individual needs
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and positive behaviour support
