Location: Stockport
Role: 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a nurturing and supportive SEN Primary School in Stockport that is seeking a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to join their team this September.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work closely with a primary-aged pupil who requires dedicated support with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Every day, you'll have the chance to make a genuine difference by helping a child feel safe, understood, and able to succeed.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship based on consistency and understanding
  • Support emotional regulation and implement strategies to manage behaviours positively
  • Encourage engagement in learning and promote independence
  • Create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and families to ensure the best outcomes for the pupil
  • Celebrate small wins and support the child's social and emotional development

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, anxiety, or additional learning needs
  • Can remain calm under pressure and adapt their approach to meet individual needs
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and positive behaviour support
