Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Salford, supporting students aged 11-16. The school caters for pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated behavioural challenges. About the Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and wider professionals to provide tailored support that enables students to engage in learning, develop confidence, and build positive relationships. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to education while promoting independence and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional learning needs.
- Support pupils in accessing classroom activities and engaging with the curriculum.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and encourage positive decision-making.
- Assist students with emotional regulation and social development.
- Adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence and resilience.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Support students during break times, transitions, and extracurricular activities where required.
- Assist with personal care needs when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm and proactive in challenging situations.
- Experience in education, care, youth work, residential care, or support settings is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
