Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary SEN school supporting students aged 11–16 with moderate Special Educational Needs. Pupils may present with autism (ASD), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language needs, and social, emotional and behavioural challenges.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help create a positive, structured and engaging learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 or small‑group basis
- Assisting with the delivery of tailored lessons and learning activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation
- Helping students develop independence, confidence and social skills
- Supporting pupils with transitions between lessons and throughout the school day
- Using strategies such as visual aids, structured routines and clear communication
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students and staff
- Ensuring pupils’ wellbeing and safety at all times in line with safeguarding procedures

- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school‑based experience desirable but not essential)
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine interest in supporting secondary‑age students with additional needs
- The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
