Job description

Are you an experienced Secondary School Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential?

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a welcoming and inclusive secondary school environment.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both teachers and students, helping to create a positive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Support pupils with SEN, behavioural needs, and additional learning requirements.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management.
  • Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence.
  • Support the implementation of intervention programmes and targeted support sessions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold school policies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or learning difficulties is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
