Secondary Core Subject Tutor – NG20, Nottingham

Location: NG20, Nottinghamshire
Position: Secondary Core Subject Tutor
Hours: Part-time (flexible)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Core Subject Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition for secondary-aged students in the NG20 area of Nottinghamshire.

The successful candidate will support students in core subjects, helping them to improve their confidence, engagement, and academic attainment. Tuition may take place in the student's home, a community setting, or online, depending on individual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and tailored lessons in one or more core subjects (English, Maths, and/or Science).
  • Assess students' learning needs and develop personalised learning plans.
  • Monitor and record student progress.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students and families.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Provide regular feedback on student progress.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring secondary-aged students.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, and/or Science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Relevant teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) or equivalent tutoring experience is desirable.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of the current secondary curriculum and GCSE requirements.
  • Experience working on a one-to-one basis.
