Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Wigan
Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Biology, Chemistry or Physics?
Considering a future in teaching and keen to gain classroom experience in a secondary school setting?
We are working in partnership with a Wigan-based secondary school to appoint a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to gain paid experience in education while developing your skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
Role Overview:

Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Biology, Chemistry or Physics specialism

Full-time position starting September 2025
-
Earn £1790–£1900 per month, dependent on hours and responsibilities

Access to ongoing CPD and training provided by both the school and Teaching Personnel
-
Ideal experience for anyone considering a future PGCE or teacher training route
The school are looking to appoint a graduate who can:
-
Support teachers across the Science department, assisting with lesson preparation, demonstrations and classroom management
-
Provide 1:1 or small group intervention to help students prepare for GCSEs
-
Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher (cover supervision)
-
Help maintain a positive and engaging learning environment across Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
