Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year


Join us as a School Youth Support Worker for one of our Secondary Schools!

Ready to start a role where every single day you make a real difference? Step into a School Youth Support Worker position across our welcoming secondary schools in Newport and support young people as they grow, achieve, and thrive!

As a School Youth Support Worker, you’ll be the friendly, encouraging mentor young people rely on—whether they have Additional Learning Needs (ALN), social/emotional needs, or simply benefit from a bit of extra guidance in the classroom.

You’ll be building strong, positive relationships, offering 1:1 and small‑group support, helping with behaviour, confidence, emotional wellbeing and everyday learning. No two days are the same—and that’s what makes it so rewarding!

This role is an incredible chance to gain hands‑on experience in education, youth work, psychology, SEN support, or behaviour mentoring. If you’re hoping to move into teaching, social work, counselling, or SEN pathways… this is the perfect place to start!


⭐ What We’re Looking For

If you’ve worked with young people in any setting—whether through employment, volunteering, or personal experience—we want to hear from you!

Experience could include, but is not limited to:

  • Coaching
  • Youth work
  • Care & Support work
  • Mentoring or Tutoring
  • Camp leading
  • Classroom support
  • Or ANY other transferable experience you can confidently demonstrate at interview!

✅ Educator Requirements

If you don’t have these yet—don’t worry! We can help you get everything during your registration as long as you’re willing to apply too:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • EWC registration
  • Age 18+
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training (provided during onboarding)
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
