Reception Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and nurturing Reception Class Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young children at the very start of their educational journey.

Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver high-quality learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring all pupils feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn.

Reception Class Teaching Assistant (EYFS Qualified)

Location: Nelson
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time
Start Date: Tuesday 1^st September

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based EYFS learning activities
• Assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
• Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development
• Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
• Observe, assess, and record pupil progress in line with EYFS standards
• Help maintain a safe and organised learning space
• Build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents/carers

Essential Requirements

• A recognised EYFS qualification (Level 2 or above)
• Experience working with children in an Early Years setting
• Sound understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A caring, patient, and proactive approach
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable

• Previous experience in a school reception class
• Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND)
