Reception Teacher
Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Contract: Permanent or Fixed Term (subject to discussion)
Working Pattern: Full-time, Term Time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Role Overview

  • Plan and deliver imaginative play-based learning and structured activities, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Create a nurturing classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to try new things.
  • Use creative teaching strategies and resources to support literacy, numeracy, and personal development.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, using insights to inform planning and feedback.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with parents, carers, and colleagues for holistic support of each child.
  • Contribute positively to school life through participation in initiatives, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Celebrate diversity and individuality, ensuring every pupil is included and encouraged.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching in Early Years (Reception ideally).
  • Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development for children aged 4–5.
  • Warm, engaging teaching style that inspires learning through play and discovery.
  • Organised, adaptable, and proactive approach to classroom practice.
  • Genuine commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and collaborative working.
  • Desire to support and contribute to a happy school community.
