Pay: £110–£120 per day
Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Start Date: September 2026 – End of Academic Year (Immediate start for the right applicant)
About the Role
Are you confident, adaptable, and passionate about supporting young people in education?
A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newport is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026!
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom during teacher absences to deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects. You will play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task throughout the lesson.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, tutors, or anyone with experience working with young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
- Deliver pre-set lesson materials across a variety of subjects
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Support students to remain engaged and focused on their work
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Have experience working with children or young people
- Are confident leading groups within a classroom environment
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are adaptable, organised, and resilient
- Have a positive attitude and a passion for education
- Can build positive relationships with students and staff
Previous experience within a school setting is desirable but not essential.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will also require the following or already hold & willing to apply for: (We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)
- Aged 18 and over
- Level 2 Safeguarding Course as part of your onboarding with us
- A Minimum of 2 professional based references which cover a 24-month period of employment (or equivalent)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
