 Teaching Assistant – Cambridge

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas

Contract Type: Full-time and part-time opportunities available
Salary: £90–£121 per day (depending on experience)


Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children in the classroom?
Teaching Personnel is seeking passionate and committed Teaching Assistants to work across a range of schools in Cambridge and the surrounding areas. We have opportunities in mainstream primary and secondary schools, as well as in specialist settings, offering both short-term and long-term placements.


About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, your role is vital in helping pupils thrive both academically and personally. You will work alongside teachers and other school staff to create a supportive learning environment tailored to each student’s needs.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons

  • Working with small groups or 1:1 with pupils who may need additional support

  • Assisting children with special educational needs (SEN), including those with EHCPs

  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment

  • Supporting with reading, writing, and numeracy activities

  • Supervising pupils during break times or on educational trips

  • Assisting with administrative tasks, such as preparing resources and displays

  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or childcare setting is essential

  • A good understanding of the school environment and the ability to follow direction

  • Confidence working with pupils with varying needs, including SEN, SEMH, or behavioural challenges

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A proactive and flexible approach – no two days are the same!

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable, or a willingness to travel to schools in different locations
