Job Title: Teacher (Secondary – PRU Setting)

Location: Northampton, NN1

Contract: Full-time

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN allowance (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an inspirational and resilient Teacher to join our dedicated team within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Northampton, supporting secondary-aged pupils (KS3 and KS4).

Our provision works with young people who have been permanently excluded, are at risk of exclusion, or require alternative educational support due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by re-engaging students with education and supporting them to achieve both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours using restorative and trauma-informed approaches

  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Track and monitor student progress, adapting provision where necessary

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, families, and external agencies

  • Contribute to behaviour support plans and pastoral development

  • Promote positive relationships, resilience, and self-regulation skills

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils (KS3/KS4)

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach

  • Experience in a PRU, alternative provision, SEN, or mainstream school with high pastoral needs (desirable)

  • A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners

  • High expectations for both academic achievement and personal development
