Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Eastbourne

Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex
Contract: Full-time 
Start Date: ASAP 
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

 

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive all-through school in Eastbourne to recruit a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant.

This well-established school is part of a forward-thinking multi-academy trust and provides education for pupils aged 2–16. The school is known for its strong sense of community, inclusive ethos, and commitment to ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential. The school promotes a culture of high expectations, resilience, and personal development.

The Role

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCo to implement personalised learning plans
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language, and SEMH
  • Adapt learning activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Is proactive and able to use initiative
  • Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Holds a relevant TA or SEN qualification (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
