Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Hailsham
Location: Hailsham, East Sussex
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (flexible)
Start Date: ASAP / September start available
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a highly inclusive and nurturing primary school in Hailsham to recruit a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant.
This welcoming and community-focused school is part of a well-established multi-academy trust and is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment for all pupils. The school has a strong reputation for its inclusive ethos, high expectations, and child-centred approach, ensuring that every learner is supported to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
There is a strong focus on early identification of needs and tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Staff work closely together to provide structured, consistent, and nurturing interventions that help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
The Role
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Support children with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
- Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to deliver personalised learning and behaviour support plans
- Adapt learning activities to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Promote emotional regulation, social development, and positive behaviour
- Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with SEN (school-based or similar setting)
- Is patient, caring, and resilient
- Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Is proactive and confident using initiative in the classroom
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Holds a relevant TA or SEN qualification (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
