About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting primary school children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students, assisting them in reaching their full potential through a tailored and holistic approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students aged between 4-11 with PMLD, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support, ensuring the comfort and dignity of students.
  • Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with teachers to adapt lessons and resources.
  • Engage students in sensory and therapeutic activities, such as sensory stories, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, and functional movement sessions.
  • Utilise assessment tools to track and support student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student development and communicate effectively with the wider team.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, adhering to safeguarding procedures.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD or similar complex needs.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach, with a strong commitment to supporting students with disabilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, healthcare professionals, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, care, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
  • A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training.
