Phonics Support Assistant – Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Position Overview
As a KS1 Phonics Support Assistant, you will play a vital part in helping young learners develop essential reading and writing skills through high‑quality phonics teaching. Working closely with KS1 class teachers, you will deliver targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, ensuring they develop a secure understanding of phonics concepts.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside KS1 teachers to deliver phonics teaching plans.
- Provide tailored one‑to‑one and small‑group support based on pupils’ needs.
- Create engaging and age‑appropriate phonics activities to support learning.
- Monitor pupil progress and adjust support strategies where necessary.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child feels valued.
- Collaborate effectively with other support staff to enhance pupil development.
Qualifications and Skills
- A genuine passion for education and supporting children’s progress.
- A strong understanding of phonics principles and teaching approaches.
- Excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Previous experience working in education or with children is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in education or phonics support are advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
