A specialist educational provision in Devizes is seeking an inspiring and adaptable PE Teacher to join its permanent staff team from September.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated practitioner who believes sport, movement and physical wellbeing can play a transformative role in the lives of young people with additional needs.
This setting supports pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans and provides a highly personalised approach to learning.
Learners may present with Autism, SEMH needs, attachment difficulties and communication barriers, therefore the successful candidate must be confident in adapting lessons creatively to encourage participation, engagement and achievement.
The school is looking for a teacher who can bring energy, innovation and encouragement into every lesson while helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem through physical education.
You will become part of a nurturing and collaborative environment where staff work together to ensure every young person feels valued, safe and supported.
About the Position
The successful applicant will deliver a broad and differentiated PE curriculum designed to meet the needs of learners within specialist education.
You will encourage pupils to experience success regardless of ability and help them develop healthy routines, emotional regulation and teamwork skills.
You will also contribute to wider school life through form tutor responsibilities, enrichment opportunities and collaborative planning with pastoral and therapeutic teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver creative PE lessons tailored to varying SEND profiles
• Promote physical wellbeing, confidence and positive participation
• Adapt activities to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Encourage teamwork, resilience and emotional development
• Monitor progress and contribute towards EHCP outcomes
• Create a calm and structured learning environment
• Support pupils during extracurricular activities and enrichment sessions
• Work collaboratively with families, therapists and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to wider wellbeing initiatives throughout the provision
• Maintain accurate assessment, tracking and reporting systems
Candidate Profile
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
• Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Have experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH needs
• Bring creativity and enthusiasm to curriculum delivery
• Value inclusion, diversity and personalised learning
• Be reflective and committed to ongoing professional growth
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils quickly
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and professionals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
