We're seeking a dedicated and dynamic PE Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant community at one of our SEMH schools, specialising in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Position: PE Teaching Assistant

About the Role: As a PE Teaching Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role in empowering our students to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. You'll work closely with our experienced PE department, providing tailored support to students with diverse needs, ensuring they have access to inclusive and engaging physical education sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering PE lessons, adapting activities to accommodate individual needs and abilities.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students during PE sessions, promoting participation and fostering a love for physical activity.
  • Utilise effective behaviour management techniques to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the SEN/SEMH team to implement personalised strategies for students, addressing their specific challenges and promoting their holistic development.
  • Celebrate progress and achievements, nurturing students' self-esteem, and confidence through positive reinforcement.

Requirements:

  • Resilient: Demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, maintaining a positive attitude and persevering to support students' progress.
  • Patient: Display patience and understanding, recognising that each student learns at their own pace and requires individualised support.
  • Passionate: Show genuine enthusiasm for supporting students with SEN/SEMH needs, advocating for their well-being and fostering a culture of inclusivity.
  • Behaviour Management Techniques: Possess effective behaviour management skills, including de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement techniques, to create a conducive learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
