Job description

Want your NQT year signed off while gaining experience across Cardiff?

Newly qualified teacher? Want to build your confidence, experience different schools and have a little more flexibility while you complete your induction year?

We’re looking to support newly qualified teachers who want to make the most of their NQT/ECT year by working across a range of primary schools in Cardiff.

Whether you already know exactly what you want to experience or you’re still figuring it out, we can work around you.

You might want to spend time in different year groups, experience a range of school settings, explore SEN, try different teaching approaches or simply build your confidence in the classroom before committing to one permanent role. We understand that your first year as a qualified teacher can feel like a big step. That’s why we want to give you the opportunity to gain valuable experience while having the flexibility to decide what works best for you.

Your weeks can look however you want them to.

Want to work 5 days a week? Great.

Prefer 2 or 3 days while you find your feet? That’s absolutely fine too.

Want to work in different schools each week? We can help with that.

Prefer to spend a longer period in one school so you can really get to know the staff, pupils and routines? We can arrange that too.

We’ll work with you to understand your preferences and find opportunities that fit around your life, your goals and the experience you want to gain.

You could gain experience with:

  • Different year groups, from Reception through to Year 6
  • Different types of primary schools and school settings
  • Mainstream and SEN environments
  • Different teaching styles and approaches
  • A range of classroom routines and behaviour strategies
  • Different school communities and catchment areas
  • Short-term and longer-term placements
  • Intervention and small-group work
  • Schools with different resources, priorities and approaches to learning

We’ll support you throughout your induction year

We know that being a newly qualified teacher can sometimes feel overwhelming. There’s a lot to learn, a lot to take in and plenty of moments where you’ll probably have questions. That’s why you won’t be left to figure it all out on your own. You’ll have a dedicated consultant who will be there to support you throughout your NQT/ECT year.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for newly qualified primary teachers who are:

  • Qualified to teach in Wales
  • Passionate about working with children
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable
  • Open to experiencing different year groups and school settings
  • Keen to develop their confidence and teaching practice
  • Committed to completing their induction year
  • Looking for flexibility around their working days
  • Interested in gaining experience across Cardiff

Why join us?

✔ Flexible working across Cardiff
✔ Opportunities to experience different primary schools
✔ Exposure to a range of year groups and settings
✔ Opportunities to gain SEN experience
✔ Short-term and longer-term placements
✔ Work that fits around your availability
✔ A dedicated consultant throughout your induction year
✔ Regular support and check-ins
✔ Help finding schools and placements that suit your interests
✔ The opportunity to build confidence and broaden your teaching experience
✔ A supportive team who genuinely wants to see you succeed

Ready to make your NQT/ECT year work for you?

If you’re a newly qualified teacher in Cardiff and you’re looking for a different way to complete your induction year — one that gives you flexibility, variety and plenty of support — we’d love to hear from you.
