Job description

Just finished your PGCE and looking for your first teaching role?

Starting your career in teaching is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. If you're still looking for a September position, or you're unsure about committing to one school straight away, agency work can be a fantastic way to gain experience, build confidence and find the school that's right for you.

We're currently looking for enthusiastic Early Career Teachers (ECTs) to work across a range of welcoming primary schools in Cardiff and the surrounding areas from September.

Whether you're hoping for a long-term class teacher role or would prefer to start with day-to-day supply while you settle into teaching, we'd love to help you take that next step.

Why choose agency work as an ECT?

Many new teachers worry that agency work means unpredictable or short-term work, but that's not always the case. We work closely with schools across South Wales and regularly place ECTs into long-term positions, maternity covers and even permanent roles.

Some of the benefits include:

  • The opportunity to experience a variety of schools, year groups and teaching styles before committing to a permanent position.
  • Build your classroom confidence with real teaching experience in supportive school environments.
  • Flexible working – choose the days that suit you or commit to full-time, long-term placements.
  • A chance to find a school where you genuinely feel happy before accepting a permanent role.
  • Excellent networking opportunities, allowing schools to get to know you before vacancies arise.
  • Gain valuable experience across both KS1 and KS2, helping you discover where your strengths and interests lie.
  • Competitive daily rates with weekly pay.
  • Holiday pay.
  • Free safeguarding and CPD training to continue developing your skills.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant who understands the challenges of starting your teaching career.
  • Help preparing for interviews, CV advice and guidance throughout your job search.
  • Opportunities in a wide range of schools, from small village primaries to larger city schools.

What we're looking for

We're keen to hear from ECTs who are:

  • Completing a Primary PGCE with QTS this summer or have recently qualified.
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in children's learning.
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable and eager to continue learning.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Confident delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Committed to creating a safe, supportive and inspiring classroom environment.

What you'll need

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or expected to achieve QTS before September.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register.
  • Two professional references covering the last two years.

Why register with us?

We know that finding your first teaching role can feel daunting, and that's why we're here to support you every step of the way. We take the time to get to know you, understand the type of school you're looking for and match you with opportunities where you can thrive.

Many of our ECTs secure long-term placements from September, with some going on to gain permanent positions at the schools they've worked in. Whether you're looking for flexibility while you complete your induction, or hoping to find the perfect school to begin your career, we'll work with you to find the right fit.

If you're ready to start your teaching journey this September, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and let's find the right school for you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
