Music Teacher

Location: NN8, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)

Start Date: January 2027

Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications

A welcoming Secondary SEND school in the NN8 area is seeking an enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their dedicated team from January 2027, providing maternity cover on a full-time basis.

The Role

As Music Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive music lessons that meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

You will have the opportunity to use music creatively to support pupils' communication, confidence, emotional development and social skills, while developing their musical knowledge and enjoyment.

The role will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Music lessons across a range of abilities
  • Adapting teaching and learning to meet individual SEND needs
  • Creating a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging pupils to develop their musical skills, creativity and confidence
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals
  • Contributing to assessment, progress tracking and wider school activities
  • Supporting the school's wider curriculum and enrichment programme

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for a Music Teacher who:

  • Has qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience
  • Has a strong musical background and genuine enthusiasm for the subject
  • Has experience working with, or a strong interest in working with, pupils with SEND
  • Can deliver creative, engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons
  • Is patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team
  • Is committed to inclusive education and achieving the best outcomes for every pupil

Experience within a SEND setting is desirable but not essential — the school is also keen to hear from talented mainstream teachers who are passionate about developing their SEND practice.
