Music Teacher
Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Music Teacher to join secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about music and committed to inspiring students to develop their musical skills, creativity, and love of performance.
This role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are looking for long-term, permanent, or flexible teaching opportunities.
The Role:

Teaching Music across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5 in some schools)

Planning and delivering engaging, practical, and inclusive lessons in line with the national curriculum

Leading ensemble groups, choirs, and school performances where appropriate
-
Encouraging students to develop their skills in composition, performance, and music theory
-
Assessing, monitoring, and tracking pupil progress
-
Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential
-
Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom and rehearsal environment

Working collaboratively with the wider Arts department and school staff
Essential Requirements:
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
-
A recognised degree in Music, Music Education, or a related subject
-
Strong subject knowledge of secondary Music curriculum and practical music teaching
-
Experience teaching performance, composition, and music theory
-
Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
-
Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their musical talents
-
A professional, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching
-
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
