Job description

Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality Music education that develops students’ musical skills, creativity, and appreciation of a wide range of musical styles and traditions.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons that combine practical performance, composition, and listening skills.

  • Teach music theory and musical literacy in line with curriculum and examination specifications.

  • Support students in developing coursework and performance pieces for assessment.

  • Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence.

Assessment and Progress

  • Assess and track student progress accurately using formative and summative assessment.

  • Provide clear feedback to support improvement and achievement.

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A Level Music assessments where applicable.

Enrichment and Performance

  • Lead or support extracurricular music activities, including choirs, ensembles, and school productions.

  • Organise and contribute to concerts, performances, and school events.

  • Maintain and manage musical instruments, equipment, and facilities.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Engage in ongoing professional development.

  • Contribute to departmental planning and whole-school initiatives.

  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
