Curriculum Leader of MFL

Subject Specialisms: Spanish and French

Location: Southampton

Start Date: April 2021 or September 2021

Salary: MPS - UPS Payscale plus TLR

 


The Governors of this Southampton Secondary school are seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner with a proven track record of success to lead their MFL Department. With an understanding of the Spanish and French curriculum, you will demonstrate strong leadership and outstanding classroom practice in order to improve the attainment within this Progress 8 subject area.

The successfully appointed MFL Department Lead will be required to lead a team of MFL teachers who come with varying experience.

 

Details of the role:

  • Full Time
  • Spanish or French Subject Experience – ideally both
  • Start date: ideally April 2021 but will consider September 2021 applicants
  • ‘Good’ Southampton Secondary School

The school are looking for the ideal candidate to inject some creativity, excitement and passion in to the MFL department. With all students making steady progress in both Spanish and French, they are looking for someone who can put their own stamp on the role.

 

Person Specification Experience:

  • A successful classroom practitioner who can teach MFL (Spanish and French) GCSE and KS3
  • Desire to progress in to Leadership
  • To have an instrumental impact on resources and schemes of work for the MFL department
  • Provide an engaging and creative MFL curriculum
  • Possess IT skills that will facilitate on-site and home school learning
  • Set objectives that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Use relevant data to establish high expectations, monitor progress and plan carefully sequenced lessons that support development of the long-term memory that is rich in knowledge
  • Be responsive to the needs of all pupils – work in conjunction with the SENDCO & Safeguarding teams to ensure all needs are being met.
  • Able to manage time effectively and work to deadlines as well as support your departments deadlines.
  • Hold regular department meetings with progress and attainment data being measured and assessed
  • To lead the MFL department with support and development for trainee teachers and those with less experience
