Mental Health Support Worker – Oldham

We are seeking a calm, resilient and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to support individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges.
You will help service users build confidence, emotional regulation and independence while promoting a safe, recovery-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and group support to individuals with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma-related needs or other mental health conditions.
• Build trusting relationships that encourage emotional expression, stability and positive coping strategies.
• Support daily routines, community engagement and wellbeing activities.
• Work collaboratively with clinical teams, support staff and external agencies.
• Assist in implementing risk assessments, support plans and mental-health-focused strategies.
• Model healthy boundaries, emotional regulation and resilience.
• Maintain accurate notes, incident reports and safeguarding records.

Essential Requirements

• Experience in mental health support, crisis support, residential services or SEN/behaviour roles.
• A calm, non-judgmental and empathetic approach.
• Monday–Friday availability.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and mental health best practice.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred but Not Essential

• Experience supporting trauma, self-harm, emotional dysregulation or challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of grounding techniques, de-escalation strategies and recovery-focused interventions.
• Understanding of person-centred and therapeutic approaches.

Vetting & Compliance

• Two years of employment references.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred).
• Overseas checks if required.
