Teaching Personnel are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Mental Health Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Bolton. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, term time only, supporting students who may be experiencing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people, whether your experience comes from education, youth work, care, coaching, psychology, mentoring, or mental health support.
The Role
No two days are the same. You'll work closely with students who need additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and develop positive coping strategies.
You will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
- Support pupils experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, and behavioural challenges.
- Encourage engagement in lessons and school life.
- Work alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Act as a positive role model and advocate for student wellbeing.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
