Are you an experienced or newly qualified Maths Teacher looking for a more rewarding teaching environment? Would you enjoy working in a setting where you can provide meaningful support to students and truly see the progress they make?

We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching within a specialist alternative provision setting for students across Year 9, 10 and 11. The role involves teaching students through personalised learning approaches, including 1:1 sessions and small group teaching, helping them to develop academically while also building confidence, independence and resilience.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the Maths curriculum and supporting students to achieve recognised qualifications, including GCSE and Functional Skills Maths.

About the Setting

We are an independent alternative provision for students in Years 9, 10 and 11, specialising in supporting young people who may require additional emotional, behavioural or educational support.

Our provision offers a nurturing and structured environment where students are taught in smaller groups, allowing staff to build strong relationships and provide personalised support. We are committed to helping every learner overcome barriers to education and develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need for future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel safe and motivated
  • Lead and develop the Maths provision across the setting
  • Encourage students to achieve their potential both academically and personally

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a genuine enthusiasm for teaching Maths
  • Be confident building positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Demonstrate high standards of classroom practice
  • Be reflective, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement
  • Use creative and evidence-informed teaching methods to engage learners
  • Have experience working with vulnerable students or an interest in alternative education

This role would suit a teacher looking for a more balanced and fulfilling position where they can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives through tailored teaching and strong pastoral support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
