Maths Teacher / Head of Mathematics

Location: Cannock Area
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR available for suitable candidates
Start Date: September 2026


Role Overview

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a successful secondary school in the Cannock area to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher or Head of Mathematics.

This opportunity would suit either an excellent classroom practitioner looking to join a supportive and high-performing department or an experienced leader seeking their next challenge as Head of Department.

The school has a strong focus on academic achievement, staff development, and delivering a high-quality educational experience for all students. The Maths department is well-established, collaborative, and committed to achieving excellent outcomes across all key stages.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable).
  • Inspire and challenge students to achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor student progress and use assessment effectively to inform teaching.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Support the wider life of the school through enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.

For Head of Mathematics applicants, additional responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Maths department.
  • Driving standards of teaching, learning, and achievement across the department.
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing colleagues.
  • Using data strategically to improve outcomes.
  • Contributing to whole-school leadership and improvement priorities.

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Mathematics.
  • Experience teaching Maths within a secondary school setting.
  • High expectations of achievement, behaviour, and attendance.

For leadership applicants:

  • Previous middle leadership experience or evidence of readiness for a leadership role.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and develop others.
  • Experience of curriculum planning and driving departmental improvement.

To Be Eligible for This Role Through Teaching Personnel, You Must:

  • Hold the right to work in the UK.
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
