Are you a Maths graduate with a passion for your subject and an interest in teaching—but not quite ready to commit to teacher training yet?

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience in a supportive secondary school in Newport, working within a strong and well-established Maths department.

The school is seeking a confident and motivated Maths graduate to deliver pre-planned Maths lessons to pupils in Years 7–9, supporting learning, managing behaviour, and developing the skills needed for a future career in teaching.

The Role

• Deliver pre-prepared Maths lessons planned by the Head of Maths

• Teach Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9 only)

• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies

• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment

• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff

• Gain invaluable classroom experience ahead of teacher training

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds (or is working towards) a degree in Maths or a related subject

• Strong Maths knowledge at A-Level or degree level

• Confident communicator with good classroom presence

• Willing to learn and apply behaviour management strategies

• Positive, resilient, and enthusiastic about working with young people

• Considering teacher training in the future (desirable but not essential)

No teaching qualification required.
