Level 3 Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled TA who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential and is confident working across a range of year groups.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support pupil learning, deliver targeted interventions, and provide high-quality classroom support. A key requirement of this role is the ability to confidently cover classes when required, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring continuity of learning in the teacher's absence.
Level 3 Teaching Assistant – PPA cover involved
Location: Nelson
Salary: £15.25 - £16 per hour

Start Date: 1st September 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across the school.
- Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions to raise attainment and support pupil progress.
- Assist in planning and preparing learning activities and resources.
- Provide in-class support for pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
- Cover whole classes when required, delivering lessons from teachers' planning and managing the classroom effectively.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to support pupil development.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a primary school setting.
- Experience covering classes and leading learning in the teacher's absence.
- Strong classroom management skills and confidence working independently with groups of children.
- Experience delivering interventions in areas such as phonics, reading and mathematics.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to child welfare.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible, proactive and positive approach to work.
