Location: Wheathampstead
Hours: Monday to Friday | 11:00am – 3:00pm | Full-Time (Term Time Only)
Start Date: September 2026, Temp-To-Perm Available 
Pay: £57 - £68 per day

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Young Person's Mentor to join our valued partner school in Wheathampstead. This is a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable young people who may have experienced barriers to education, helping them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and re-engage with learning.

If you're someone who naturally builds positive relationships, stays calm under pressure, and believes every young person deserves someone in their corner, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building trusting relationships with young people who require additional support.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring throughout the school day.
  • Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students develop coping strategies.
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Celebrating progress, boosting confidence, and helping students achieve their individual goals.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience supporting children or young people (schools, youth work, care, coaching, mental health, residential care, sports coaching or similar).
  • Is calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
  • Can build positive, professional relationships quickly.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
