Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Gateshead

Location: Middlesbrough
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £92.63–£105 per day (dependent on experience, paid weekly via PAYE)

Teaching Personnel is looking for caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in welcoming and inclusive schools across Middlesbrough from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to succeed both academically and personally.

Whether you're an experienced Learning Support Assistant, a recent graduate, or have transferable skills from roles such as youth work, coaching, care, or childcare, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Work closely with class teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Support pupils' academic progress, confidence, communication, and social development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, teaching staff, and parents/carers where appropriate.

About You

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or similar setting (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using your own initiative.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop professionally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
