Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist educational provision in the Yeovil area on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start.
This position is ideal for an enthusiastic and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
The successful candidate will become an integral part of a dedicated team, helping pupils access education, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
Because of the needs of the students, we are specifically looking for someone with relevant experience who can confidently hit the ground running and provide immediate support.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised support throughout the school day.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Assisting with classroom activities and adapting resources where necessary.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
- Supporting communication, social interaction and independence.
- Encouraging participation and engagement in learning.
- Helping to create a calm, structured and supportive environment.
- Building strong and positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Supporting the implementation of individual learning plans and targets.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within education, care or specialist settings.
- An understanding of SEN and SEMH needs.
- A patient, proactive and compassionate approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to remain calm, adaptable and resilient.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
