About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a capable Year 3 pupil with autism in a primary school in Washington. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, term‑time only, and will begin once EHCP funding is agreed.

As an agency placement, the school may end the booking depending on changing needs. However, the school are keen to retain the right candidate long‑term, with the potential for a permanent contract.
The pupil requires support with communication, emotional regulation and classroom routines, as well as reassurance and structure throughout the school day.


About You

  • Proven experience supporting pupils with autism on a 1:1 basis
  • Ideally holds a Level 3 TA qualification or similar
  • Patient, friendly and consistent
  • Able to provide structure and a firm but fair approach
  • Confident using visual timetables and autism‑support strategies
  • Team‑focused and adaptable

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting learning, transitions and emotional regulation
  • Using visual supports and structured routines
  • Encouraging independence while providing reassurance
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCO
  • Recording pupil progress where required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
