Job description

A partner school in the Stockton area (TS19) are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic Post 16 Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with Autism and a range of associated learning needs as they prepare for adulthood.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals to help students access learning, build independence, and develop essential life skills. Your support may involve 1:1 work, small group sessions, emotional regulation assistance and general classroom support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students aged 16+ with a range of Special Educational Needs (ASD, ADHD, PMLD, sensory needs, communication differences).
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement, independence and progress.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning plans.
  • Assist with classroom management and provide a safe, supportive environment.
  • Encourage personal development, communication and social interaction skills.
  • Be proactive, positive and consistent in your approach to supporting young people.

         The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold an Enhanced Child & Adult DBS (essential).
  • Have experience working with individuals who have barriers to learning.
  • Be passionate about supporting young people with SEN.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Show enthusiasm, resilience and a proactive approach.
  • Ideally, have experience in SEN education or social care environments.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
