Part-Time Learning Support Assistant – Southampton

Location: Southampton
Start Date: September 2026
Role: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Contract: Part-time, with day-to-day and longer-term opportunities

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for part-time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work across primary schools in Southampton from September 2026.

We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and reliable individuals who have experience supporting children, ideally with SEN experience. You may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working with small groups or assisting within the wider classroom.

The Role

As a part-time LSA, your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN and additional needs
  • Supporting small-group interventions and learning activities
  • Assisting teachers with classroom-based learning
  • Helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally
  • Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Working as part of the wider school team
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEN (desirable)
  • Are caring, patient and approachable
  • Are confident supporting children individually and in small groups
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills
  • Are reliable and adaptable
  • Are passionate about helping children learn and develop

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
