Learning Support Assistant – Oldham
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with additional learning needs across mainstream and specialist settings.
You will help pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities.
• Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, communication needs or SEMH.
• Build warm, consistent relationships that promote engagement and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Assist with implementing EHCP targets, learning plans and academic interventions.
• Encourage communication, social interaction and resilience.
• Maintain accurate observations, notes and safeguarding documentation.
Essential Requirements
• Experience supporting children or young people in education, SEN, tutoring or similar roles.
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Monday–Friday availability during school hours.
• Understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice and differentiated learning.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred but Not Essential
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, communication needs or SEMH.
• Understanding of SEND strategies, visuals, scaffolding and confidence-building techniques.
• Ability to contribute to observations or learning journals.
Vetting & Compliance
• Two employment references.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred).
• Overseas checks where relevant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
