Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with several outstanding SEN Schools across Central Manchester, supporting pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD, selective mutism and speech, language and communication needs. We are seeking dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistants who are enthusiastic about making a lasting difference in young pupils’ life skills and personal development.

The role would require you to have a proactive and empathetic personality, being able to work effectively with experienced school staff and build lasting relationships with pupils. The students are aged from 4-11 and some require regular interventions and regulation, provided that the schools have excellent facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Use de-escalation strategies and behaviour management techniques where needed.
  • Support pupils access the curriculum and develop social and life skills.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where appropriate (training can be provided).
  • Work closely with the SENCO, therapists, and other professionals.

Requirements:

  • Previous SEN experience (essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively within a team
  • A patient, supportive, and resilient approach to working with children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
