Learning Support Assistant

Location: Hertfordshire 
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by negotiation)

Inspire, Support and Make a Difference

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and ambitious secondary school in Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams, you will provide tailored support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping to create an inclusive, positive and engaging learning environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students in lessons on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Help students with additional learning needs, including SEND, SEMH and literacy support
  • Encourage student confidence, independence and positive behaviour
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young people in an educational or support setting
  • Is patient, caring and resilient
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed

Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers and individuals with transferable skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
