Job description

Learning support assistant – Colchester

Area: Colchester, Essex
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week 
Start date: ASAP

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school community. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting students to reach their full potential and helping to create a positive learning environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored assistance to students, both in and out of the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve success academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

  • Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Provide support for students with additional learning needs, including SEND.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Help implement individual learning plans and interventions.
  • Monitor and record student progress where required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for supporting student development and wellbeing.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of SEND is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
