Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Trauma-Informed)

We are looking for a resilient, proactive, and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in the Carmarthen area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people who may have experienced trauma and require patient, consistent, and understanding adults to help them succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can remain calm under pressure, and is passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

You will play a vital role in helping students feel safe, supported, and able to engage with learning while building trust, confidence, and positive relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups

  • Helping students regulate emotions and engage with learning

  • Providing consistent, trauma-informed support throughout the school day

  • Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence

  • Ideally experienced in trauma-informed practice, behaviour support, or working with young people with additional needs

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
