Job description

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes?

We are seeking committed, resilient and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team at a secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students who require additional behavioural, emotional and educational support.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students both in and out of the classroom. You will help create a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment where pupils can build confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Assisting with classroom learning and intervention activities
  • Building positive, professional relationships with pupils
  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Helping to maintain a calm, consistent and nurturing environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally in education, youth work, care or support settings
  • Is calm, patient and resilient under pressure
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can maintain professional boundaries while showing empathy and understanding
  • Believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed
  • Is flexible, proactive and a strong team player

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
