Job description

Teaching Assistant – Primary & Secondary SEN

We're looking for a caring, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school from September. This is a full-time, term-time role supporting primary and secondary pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), learning difficulties, and speech and language needs.

Whether you've worked in education, care, youth work, nurseries, support work, or have transferable experience working with children or vulnerable people, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

You'll work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils learn, build confidence, and develop independence in a positive, nurturing environment.

You'll:

  • Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups.

  • Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.

  • Encourage communication, confidence, and independence.

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Is patient, caring, and adaptable.

  • Enjoys supporting children and young people.

  • Has experience working with children or people with additional needs, or transferable skills from care, youth work, coaching, or similar roles.

  • Has strong communication skills and a positive attitude.

Safeguarding: A Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service is required, or you must be willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
