Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join a specialist SEN School and College in Bury. This rewarding full-time role involves supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of additional and complex needs across both secondary and post-16 education.
As a Learning Mentor, you'll be a positive role model, helping students develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to thrive both in education and in everyday life.
Your Role
Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support tailored to individual needs
Support students with social, emotional, behavioural, and learning barriers
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Assist students to develop communication, social, and life skills
Promote confidence, self-esteem, and independence
Support students during lessons, enrichment activities, and transitions throughout the day
Provide personal care when required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
✅ Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, residential care, support work, or similar settings
✅ A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
✅ Confidence supporting individuals with additional needs and behaviours that may challenge
✅ Comfortable providing personal care when required
✅ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
✅ Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude
✅ Passion for helping young people reach their full potential
✅ Available for full-time work, Monday-Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
